PUBLISHED to coincide with the exhibition Issey Miyake Making Things presented at the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain in Paris between 13 October 1998 and 28 February 1999, this book offers an impressive overview of the most current works by Issey Miyake. It offers a wealth of information and commentary about the clothes, the materials, the techniques, the manufacturing process and the fundamental ideas behind the work of this major creative figure of the 20th century.
CONTRIBUTORS
Kazuko Sato, designer and journalist, born in Tokyo. Written especially for this book, her essay is based on recent conversations with Miyake and gives an attentive, detailed account of his designs and innovations from the 7os to the present day.

Raymond Meier, born in Switzerland in 1957, currently lives in New York. He is one of the world's best-known still life photographers, contributing regularly to Harper's Bazaar and Vogue. He offers a photographic view on Miyake by means of fifty images taken at the exhibition.

Also featured is a previously unpublished interview between Issey Miyake and Nerve Chandes.
